If the thought of interpreting your Credit Report frightens you then welcome to the majority of Americans. Personal Credit can be a complex and frustrating topic to tackle, especially if you don’t have accurate information to assist you. As intimidating as it can be it is something you need to be competent of if you want to gain wealth, reduce stress and receive preferred interest and insurance rates.

Your Credit History and standing can play a positive or negative role in your personal life. Most corporations review your Credit Report while conducting background checks; the reason this is to this is to gage your character as a potential employee. Negative pay history, Collections, judgments, Bankruptcy and Past Due Child Support payments could potentially keep you from landing that dream job. Insurance companies have begun to use Credit History as a factor when setting insurance rates, the better the credit rating, the better the insurance rate.

How to improve the score?

  1. Pay down on credit cards, your Balance to Credit Limit ratio should be 30% or less (example: Outstanding balance $300/Credit card limit $1000 = Balance to Credit Limit Ratio of 30%.
  2. Do not close credit card accounts as the reduction in capacity will lower your score.
  3. Continue to make payments on time (older late pays will become insignificant with time).
  4. Pay all collection and Judgment items on credit bureau
  5. Review, double and triple check the info on your bureau to make sure its accurate
